Pier 10 has never looked better- stunning views, manicured grounds, award winning chef and estate grown/bottled wines. Steve's cooking style is evolving, regional, seasonal and original. Chef steve's innovative creations are complemented by the estate grown produce and fresh local ingredients. This is an opportunity to experience one of the peninsula's few establishments where all stages of the wine making process takes place on the property, from planting to drinking. These days on a trip to pier 10 you can sample the estate grown and bottled wines in our refurbished cellar door, better known as 'the home of sparkling wine on the mornington peninsula'. As the sun sets, experience pier 10 at night with candle lit dining in a friendly atmosphere. Every sunday local musicians perform live music to compliment the backdrop of pier 10's beauty. The contemporary ???shed??? houses a relaxed country restaurant with an open fireplace and large deck overlooking the vineyard and rolling hills of shoreham. Pier 10 is open thursday to sunday for lunch and wine tastings, as well as every friday and saturday night for dinner. 2 course $30, 3 course $38.00 thursday to saturday. Throughout autumn and winter an excellent lunch special is offered. The result is first class food, served swiftly and effortlessly, all in the beautiful surrounds of melbourne's sleepy red hill district. Keeping true to family values, this dynamic trio are providing their significant experience and skills in the relaxed pier 10 setting. The restaurant has evolved and is headed by stuart baker (the point albert park - 2 hats), glen balk (reserve restaurant - 2 hats) and executive chef steve davidson (vines of red hill - 1 hat). The weekender soon became fulltime weekend labor with training the vines, leaf plucking and all the work required to maintain a new young vineyard. Both Eric Sue had fulltime positions in the city, Eric being a very successful businessman with his own art and picture framing business of 30 years and Sue in the corporate world of Police Headquarters. The vision was to create a lovely lifestyle on the gorgeous Mornington Peninsula while also imagining a very relaxing retirement. Pier 10 is a little family owned and run vineyard, restaurant and cellar door. Eric's son Stuart who has worked in desirable dining in the city now leases the restaurant, Sue now runs her cellar door next door to the restaurant. Eric's younger son Scott is a builder and has been very skillful in the ongoing building works. Sue's sons Paul Jordan have also been regular faces on the restaurant floor and cellar door in the hasty years. All boys have pitched in during vintages. Now it is a very busy, fully licensed restaurant with a mighty following of locals who appreciate a sumptuous menu, a very extensive range of nippy climate wines and the entertainment of a large settled of local musicians. A recent addition in the cellar door is the trivial casual eating area where you can enjoy some lovely platters matched to estate grown and made wines after your wine tasting. A cony fire awaits in winter and a massive out door deck in the warmer months. Views over the vineyard are wonderful from both areas. The tranquility weekender is now keeping everyone busy with its own winery on site, restaurant and cellar door eternal buzzing with activity. Andrew Thomson is the winemaker and has been working with Eric and Sue for the previous 10 years, and all share the identical passion of producing the best wines conceivable from the beautifully maintained nippy climate vineyard.
